Indivisible Kansas City is delighted to endorse Ms. Lauren Reinhold to represent the 1st Congressional District of Kansas.

Ms. Reinhold holds the same values as Kansans all across the state: community, hard work, economic security, freedom, and prosperity for all. She has dedicated most of her career to public service. After her career at a federal agency was prematurely cut short by the harmful DOGE cuts of the early days of the current Administration, Ms. Reinhold turned her attention instead to fighting for Kansas, so she decided to run for Congress. We applaud her.

IKC would especially like to commend Ms. Reinhold for three of her platforms: strengthening rural healthcare, advocating for common-sense immigration policy, and restoring government accountability.

Strengthening rural healthcare: Ms. Reinhold is exactly right to put the protection of rural hospitals at the very top of her priorities. Kansas currently has more rural hospitals at risk of closure than any other state in the US, and this is a situation that has been made much worse by the actions of the current Congress. Slashing Medicaid is one way that Congress attacks rural healthcare, and Ms. Reinhold won’t stand for it.

Common-sense immigration policy: Ms. Reinhold knows that, in order for the United States to live up to its traditions of honor and decency, we must welcome those who wish to come to our shores to live a peaceful, more prosperous life. And we must create a pathway for them to do so that is viable and feasible. Millions of people have been unfairly impacted because our politicians are playing politics with Immigration policy. We should cut out the mean games and finally establish sensible ground rules that newcomers to our country can actually follow.

Restoring government accountability: The past 1.5 years have reminded us all of the importance of accountability for our government officials. No one should be above the law. Congress must act to ensure that this is the case. And it must start by holding the current law-breakers accountable. We must root out corruption, unethical acts, and flaunting the law. IKC trusts that Ms. Reinhold will do exactly that once Kansas sends her to Congress.
