“Light is more powerful than darkness.” Congressman Emanuel Cleaver was exactly right when he said those words. He has embraced the sentiment throughout his tenure in public office, and this is why Indivisible Kansas City is proud to endorse Congressman Cleaver to continue serving Missouri’s 5th Congressional District.

Congressman Cleaver has represented Missouri’s 5th with skill, integrity, and grace for more than 21 years. The Congressman has previously served as the Chair of the House National Security, International Development, and Monetary Policy Subcommittee, as well as the Housing, Community Development, and Insurance Subcommittee. He currently sits on the House Financial Services Committee.

Before his time in Congress, Mr. Cleaver served the people of Kansas City, first as their City Councilman and then as their Mayor, for 20 years. His list of accomplishments for Kansas City is long and undisputed.

But what some Missourians might not know is just how much he has done to support the smaller towns and rural parts of Missouri during his time in Congress. He has sponsored or supported legislation that protects farmers, brings broadband internet to sparsely populated areas, funded Farm Service Agency offices, and supported rural economic development. Congressman Cleaver stands for all Missourians and all Americans – not just a privileged few.
